Two Portland Lawyers create app ‘Driving While Black’

A new app called ‘Driving While Black’ was designed by two Portland Lawyers to help people of all races and officers who have pulled them over. With the app, you can alert friends if you have been pulled over. There is a button to record your conversation, a complaint function and a commend function for the officer who pulled you over. The app also outlines your rights and includes tips for parents to share with their children.

Creators Marianne Hyland and Melvin Oden Orr originally started working on the app in April but with officer-involved shootings in the spotlight right now, they are hoping to launch it within weeks on iPhone and Android.
