One Man Dead, One Critically Injured After Two-Car Crash

One man died, and another was critically injured, in a two-car crash on August 28, 2010, on Highway 30 near Clataskanie, Oregon.

The crash occurred around 5:55 PM, when a westbound car driven by Jeffery Kimball, 60, of Portland, crossed the center line and crashed into an eastbound car driven by Hans Sundqvist, 57, of Camas, Washington.

Sundqvist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kimball was taken by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with critical injuries.

Safety restraint use information was not released.

The crash closed the highway for four hours, as OSP troopers from the St. Helens and Astoria offices worked to investigate. Other responders included Clatskanie Police Department, Clatskanie Fire Department and ODOT.
