13-Year-Old Girl Injured in Hillsboro Pedestrian Accident

Location: Tualatin Valley Highway in Hillsboro
Name: Unidentified Teen Girl

The Oregonian recently reported that a 13-year-old girl was hit by a Ford Expedition SUV as she crossed Tualatin Valley Highway near Cornelius Pass Road in Hillsboro at about 6pm. Her identity was not released.

Medics responded to the scene of the Oregon pedestrian accident and took the girl to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in North Portland with what looked like a broken leg.

The driver stopped and cooperated with the police. The initial investigation indicated that the girl was crossing against a red light when she was struck.

No citations were immediately issued.

We certainly hope that this young teenager will recover fully from this scary incident that could have ended with her getting much more seriously hurt. We wish the very best for her in the future.

Remember that in a car vs. pedestrian crash, the pedestrian always loses, Drivers owe it to pedestrians to be alert – crosswalk or not, you are bigger, heavier, and are going faster. And pedestrians owe it to themselves to be cautious when crossing a street, and to cross only on the green light in marked crosswalks.
