Drunk Driver Causes Three-Vehicle Crash

Date: May 23, 2011
Location: Southeast Tualatin Valley Hwy near Southeast River Rd
Name: Claus Lendgren

The Hillsboro police reported that an impaired driver caused a three-vehicle car crash.

Shortly before 10pm, Claus Lendgren , age 31 of Hillsboro, was driving his 1999 Ford Ranger east on SE Tualatin Valley Hwy near SE River Road. Lendgren’s vehicle crossed over the center line and struck an oncoming Plymouth minivan and Ford F150 truck.

At the time of impact, police estimate that Lendgren was travelling about 35 miles per hour and he was uninjured. A man and two women who were inside the minivan, and a man inside the Ford truck were transported to Tuality Community Hospital where they were treated and released after complaining of chest and pelvic injuries. None of the occupants were identified by police.

Lendgren was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, fourth-degree assault and reckless driving. Lendgren’s blood-alcohol level of .16 percent is double Oregon’s legal limit of .08 percent.

We certainly hope that all of those injured in this senseless Oregon car accident will recover fully from their injuries. We have seen the lives torn apart by drunk drivers and we are relieved that this accident did not result in anyone’s death.
