How Much Auto Insurance is Required in Oregon?

Simple. As much as you can afford. You want to get the highest amount of insurance you can afford. And you particularly want to focus on your uninsured motorist protection and underinsured motorist protection. You want to call your agent and get at least $250,000 worth of uninsured and underinsured to protect you and your family in case someone who does not have enough insurance hits you.

And the same principle applies to the amount of insurance you buy. If you hit someone, and they’re really badly injured, you want enough insurance to pay for that. And, buying more insurance is going to cover you, your family, your loved ones, and your friends that are in your car with you. So if you’re driving along, and someone hits you and they cause serious injury, if you’re in the hospital for months and you can’t work anymore, and they only have $25,000 worth of insurance, you’re probably only going to get about $25,000 from them. And that’s not going to cover it.
