The study found that the rats who were injured showed far more fear than those who did not receive brain injuries, but the scientists can\u2019t explain why this is so.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;Something about the brain injury rendered them more susceptible to acquiring an inappropriately strong fear,\u201d said Michael Fanselow, the senior author of the study and professor of psychology at UCLA. \u201cIt was as if the injury primed the brain for learning to be afraid,\u201d he said, then admitted that the reasons for the correlation between the brain injury and fear were unknown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Fanselow hypothesized that the mere events that cause brain injury are also very frightening, so that the link between the injury itself and the PTSD are merely incidental.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If a motorcyclist, pedestrian or motorist is badly injured in Oregon, a Portland brain injury attorney will now have to consider what the negative impact on the victim\u2019s quality of life will be if they also develop PTSD.
