This is a real story about one of our real clients. All names of individuals have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty alike. But names of insurance companies are real, and the details of what happened have not been changed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Nov.6, Fred was driving down SE Foster Rd. in SE Portland, Oregon. When he was going straight across an intersection, the car next to him (on his left) turned right, right into him.<\/p>\n

Fred\u2019s car was pushed over the curb and barely missed a pole.\u00a0 The entire left side of the car was smashed, so damaged that the driver\u2019s door would not open. The convertible fram was bent and the car was later determined to be beyond repair.<\/p>\n

While Fred\u2019s own insurance, Esurance, paid his medical bills initially through his personal injury protection, Fred knew that $15,000 would not be enough because of his severe back injuries and sought the help of the personal injury attorneys at DuBois Law Group to help file a claim against the other driver\u2019s insurance, Progressive.<\/p>\n

After doing months of physical therapy, Fred\u2019s back had not improved and the pain was affecting his ability to work, sleep, and play basketball (his favorite hobby). He realized he would need further treatment, and after an MRI he was prescribed steroid injections \u2013 which are expensive.<\/p>\n

After hiring with Sean DuBois, Fred felt much more confident that he would be able to afford proper medical treatment and that Sean and his team would help through the personal injury process. The first thing Sean did was get a policy limits demand letter out to Progressive to get Fred the $25,000 available under the bad driver\u2019s insurance policy. Progressive agreed to pay Fred the $25,000 after negotiations with DuBois Law Group.<\/p>\n

Then, because the $25,000 was still not enough to cover Fred\u2019s medical expenses, Sean decided to help Fred pursue a claim against his own insurance, Esurance, for underinsured motorist coverage. Basically, since Progressive could not cover his bills, Fred filed a claim with his own insurance to cover the difference through the UIM policy in his coverage. In Oregon, all drivers are required to have at least $25,000 in UIM coverage.<\/p>\n
