Por proclama presidencial, diciembre es el Mes Nacional de Prevenci\u00f3n de Conducir Bajo los Efectos del Alcohol y las Drogas, o \"3D\". Cada presidente de los Estados Unidos desde Ronald Reagan ha reafirmado su compromiso de detener la conducci\u00f3n bajo los efectos del alcohol con esta observancia anual.

\n\u00bfY nosotros? Nos parece una idea tan genial que levantamos una copa, de agua con gas. Est\u00e1 bien, tal vez levantemos una copa de vino, pero no conduciremos. Esperamos que se una a nosotros para hacer de estas fiestas algo verdaderamente memorable haciendo todo lo posible para prevenir conducir ebrio o drogado estas fiestas, y en 2010.<\/p>\n

Las cifras detr\u00e1s de conducir bajo los efectos del alcohol y las drogas son asombrosas. Innumerables vidas se pierden y a\u00fan m\u00e1s personas resultan gravemente heridas, a veces de forma permanente.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan los Centros para el Control de Enfermedades, cada d\u00eda en EE.UU. mueren 36 personas y aproximadamente 700 resultan heridas en accidentes automovil\u00edsticos en los que intervienen conductores en estado de ebriedad. Si bien algunos accidentes pueden involucrar otros factores, es probable que la mayor parte de esas muertes y de ese dolor fueran completamente prevenibles.<\/p>\n

Pi\u00e9nsalo: Ponerte al volante bajo los efectos del alcohol o las drogas no solo pone tu vida en riesgo, sino que arriesga la vida de muchos otros, incluso de ni\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Solo hay una forma de detener a los conductores ebrios, y es que cada uno de nosotros asuma la responsabilidad individual de no hacerlo. Deja esas llaves. Designa a un conductor. Opta por caminar.
