William James Cannard, age 41 of Oregon City, died after a skiing accident at Mt. Hood Meadows in which he fell on steep terrain and crashed into a tree. The accident happened at about 10:45am in the Memorial Bowl area, classified as a double black diamond run.<\/p>\n

Resort officials reported that the Ski Patrol reached the accident scene within five minutes but could not revive Cannard who was not wearing a helmet. His wife and children were at the resort but were not skiing with him at the time.<\/p>\n

According to an online obituary, \u201cBill\u201d Cannard was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil of humble means, and went on to grow a successful business \u2013 Ran-Tech Engineering and Aerospace, Inc. He lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and children Courtney and Brandon.<\/p>\n

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Cannard\u2019s family as they deal with this intensely tragic turn of events, especially his wife and children as they are left to live without their husband and father.<\/p>\n
