Drinking and driving carries many risk for yourself, passengers and any others that may cross your path. Preventing your friends or family from drunk driving can help minimize the number of accidents that occur on the road, especially on New Year’s Eve.<\/p>\n

Over 40% of fatal automobile accidents are alcohol-related. These accidents involving alcohol are five times more likely to occur at night.<\/p>\n

This New Year\u2019s Eve, help prevent drunk driving by planning ahead. There are a variety of options to get around safely on New Year\u2019s Eve. TriMet is offering free rides starting at 8pm and the MAX will be running late night service until about 3am. Check TriMet\u2019s website to plan your NYE trip<\/a>. Taking an Uber, cab or Lyft, or having a designated sober driver, is another smart way to avoid drinking and driving.<\/p>\n

If you see what you suspect is a drunk driver, call the police immediately. Try to get the license plate number of the vehicle and don\u2019t forget to give your location.
