Three people were injured – one critically – in a two vehicle head-on car crash on Highway 20 approximately one mile east of Eddyville according to a news release from the Oregon State Police. According to OSP Sergeant Justin McGladrey, on December 23, 2010 at about 8:28am a 1995 Toyota Corolla with two occupants was heading west on Highway 20 near milepost 24. As it negotiated a right curve it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2010 Kia Soul traveling eastbound.<\/p>\n

Kirstin C. Heins, age 35, the Toyota’s driver, was critically injured and was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis by REACH air ambulance. She was later transferred to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital in Portland.<\/p>\n

Her husband and passenger, Mathieu F. Brown, age 35, was transported to the same hospital by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Both Heins and Brown are from Prescott, AZ.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Kia, Danniel Kay, age 49, of Newport, was also transported to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

All three people involved were using safety restraints and the airbags in the Kia had deployed in the Oregon car accident<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Oregon State Police were assisted at the scene by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Toledo Fire Department, and ODOT. Highway 20 was shut down for about three hours and traffic was detoured around the crash scene. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Newport Area Command office are conducting an investigation.<\/p>\n
