Joshua Shulman is a personal injury attorney on a mission to do some good in the State of Oregon.\u00a0 Together with his partner, Sean DuBois, Shulman established the DuBois Law Group law firm in 2008 with a mission to garner justice and proper compensation for those clients who have been injured or sustained damages in accidents and incidents that were no fault of their own.\u00a0 Shulman has to this day maintained an exemplary reputation within the legal community in Oregon, and consistently seeks ways to make a difference in the community.\u00a0 That is why he has become a member of various state organizations, including the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For those of you that may not know, the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon<\/strong> is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization (much like the Brain Injury Association of America) that has dedicated itself to providing a better future to Oregon residents by supporting brain injury prevention initiatives, education, research and advocacy in the state.<\/p>\n

The organization was originally founded in 1984.\u00a0 The founding members of the organization knew what their goal needed to be, especially since a majority of the founders had themselves suffered a life-altering brain injury, or someone in their family or a close friend had.\u00a0 Today, the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon<\/strong> is known for being a leader in brain injury education and outreach, and their existing leadership encompasses a variety of people, from brain injury survivors and family members, to attorneys and medical professionals.\u00a0 These people have diligently worked to raise awareness for brain injuries and improve medical treatments for brain injuries through improved education and research.\u00a0 They have also been advocates for massive changes in the law when it comes to brain injuries and personal injury law.<\/p>\n

The vision of the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon<\/strong> is fairly simple.\u00a0 It is \u201ca world where all preventable brain injuries are prevented, all unpreventable brain injuries are minimized and all individuals who have experienced brain injury maximize their quality of life.\u201d\u00a0 In achieving this vision, the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon works with its members like Shulman and other members of the community to offer:<\/p>\n

  1. Referrals and Information via their toll free helpline at 1-800-544-5243.<\/li>\n
  2. Peer Support and Mentoring<\/li>\n
  3. Support Groups (over 40 groups are now active in the State of Oregon)<\/li>\n
  4. Advocacy<\/li>\n
  5. Awareness and Prevention (helmet give-aways, community presentations, fundraisers, etc.)<\/li>\n
  6. Support Services<\/li>\n
  7. Research and Education (conferences, workshops, trainings, presentations, newsletters, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In these important missions, the Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon<\/strong> is guided by a set of standing principles, which were detailed extensively for the first time in 2007 and became a part of the organization\u2019s history and philosophy.\u00a0 Above all else, they support having respect for all people and supporting the choices of the individual.\u00a0 And, they wholeheartedly believe that individuals who have suffered a brain injury should have all the same opportunities that others without brain injury do.\u00a0 The Brain Injury Alliance of Oregon<\/strong> is no doubt a worthy cause, and one that every member is extremely proud to be a part of.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
