Three people in a pickup truck died on May 18, 2010, around 12:40 AM, after a head-on crash with a commercial truck<\/a>\u00a0on Highway 97 near Grass Valley, Oregon, according to The Oregonian<\/em> and an OSP press release.<\/p>\n

The early-morning crash near Grass Valley occurred after the pickup truck crossed the center line into the commercial truck\u2019s path. The commercial truck driver tried to avoid a collision by swerving toward the shoulder, but the two vehicles crashed head-on.<\/p>\n

The pickup truck\u2019s driver and his two passengers died in the trucking crash. The driver was identified as Jose Luis Sandoval Guerrero, 23; and the passengers as Audelino Sandoval Barajas, 43, and Pablo Alcala Marmolejo, 52. All three men were from Mattawa, Washington.<\/p>\n

The commercial truck driver, Benjamin V. Quiroz, 58, of Anaheim, California, and a passenger, Jose Luis Ortiz Moreno, 56, of Salinas, California, had minor injuries. They were taken to Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles for treatment.<\/p>\n

Oregon State Police troopers are continuing to investigate. Safety restraint use information was unavailable. The crash closed the highway for about three hours, with all lanes opened by 4:30 AM.<\/p>\n
